Early in 1945, the congregation made significant improvements to the church. These included, a new furnace equipped with a blower, new kitchen cupboards, drains, and a sewer system.
In August 1945, the church was damaged by a fire caused by a lightning strike. Fortunately, the blaze was quickly seen and extinguished before any unrecoverable damage to the building could occur.
During repairs, the congregation proceeded to beautify the church interior.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Mueller presented the church with a new altar in memory of Mrs. Mueller’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Spaid.
An altar set was presented to the church in honor of Herbert Coe, who lost his life in World War II.
A new pulpit was presented to the church by Mrs. Mattie Saddoris as a memorial to her late husband, Clarence H. Saddoris.
Landscaping around the church was also performed.
A rededication service was held on April 7, 1946. Bishop Ralph Maggee, Chicago, IL, delivered the dedicatory sermon.
